General expertise for the second generation DEUTA SAFETY SYSTEM

General expertise for the second generation DEUTA SAFETY SYSTEM

The latest general expertise by TÜV NORD strongly simplified the SIL evaluation of the safety relevant DEUTA Safety Systems for our customers. TÜV NORD evaluated the safety relevant functions of the Safe Control Unit in the 2nd generation of the DEUTA Safety System as generic component with a Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3.

o SiFa-UIC641 - SIL 3
o Roll-back protection - SIL 3
o Speed monitoring - SIL 3
o Speed limit monitoring - SIL 3
o Standstill detection - SIL 3
o Speed output via operationally proved indicator - SIL 2
o Speed output via IconTrust Generic Plus Terminal - SIL 3

Operationally proven sensors and indicators as well as evaluated REDBOX Multi-Functional Recorders and Multi-Functional Terminals are available to our customers in a SIL product construction kit. The non-project-related generic expertise for these products is the secure basis for quick re-evaluation of a DEUTA Safety System.

New projects are accompanied by a project-specific declaration of validity in addition to the generic expertise. Among other things, the project-specific declaration of validity takes into consideration safety relevant parameters, the wiring plan, the configuration and the test report. As long as the parameters do not change after the expertise, the SIL evaluated project-specific system can be transferred to the entire vehicle range.

This simplified procedure relieves the customers in terms of expenses and expended time.

The DEUTA Safety product construction kit consists of the following modules:

• Safe Control Unit integrated in the DEUTA REDBOXflex safe+ bzw. REDsafe
• Pick-Up Sensors HS 22..S respectively Axle-Mounted Sensors DF 16..S
• Indicators  ENGx/9..S respectively EGS 3/)..S
• Multi-Functional Terminal with IconTrustGenericPlus

Our Safety services are versatile and for the DEUTA Safety System they also include:

• Development of SCUs (Safe Control Units) according to customer requirements
for the safety functions - e.g. with:

• System drafts with operationally proven or newly developed DEUTA components

subject to the required safety integrity level of the different safety functions

• Development of an overall architecture

• Obtaining an approval for individual safety functions according to valid safety
standards for railway applications (DIN EN 50126, DIN EN 50128, DIN EN 50129)

• Integrationtests and creation of necessary SIL documentation and system report

• Coordination with the system expert

• Management of obsolescence processes including assimilationof the report or
   re-certification

With its many successful projects, DEUTA-WERKE is worldwide the first choice for Safety Systems in railway vehicles. Even the TÜV-Nord confirmed the TSI compliance of DEUTA SAFETY SYSTEMS in ECTS applications.
