Learning Partsnership

DEUTA-WERKE GmbH and the Nicolaus Cusanus Secondary School have placed their long-established cooperation under the umbrella of the KURS Initiative (cooperation between regional enterprise and schools). Both partners signed an agreement to this effect on 27.05.2011.

After many years of successful collaboration, DEUTA WERKE and Nicolaus Cusanus have set the seal on an official KURS cooperation.

Students from levels 8 to 12 have the possibility of gaining in-depth insights into the workings and processes of our company – locally and directly. The experience of a challenging and stimulating environment might help the students in their eventual choice of career path.

For years now students from the Nicolas Cusanus Secondary School have been using the expertise of Deuta Werke for their tuition, particularly in the form of company visits for students of physics. Now the collaboration with DEUTA is to be expanded and strengthened: „It is our wish to show students that the natural sciences like physics are not only about grey theory but in real life are to be found all around us in many products“, explains Deuta Managing Director Fabian Rensch.

To transform this idea into a living concept in cooperation with the Nicolas Cusanus Secondary School, within the framework of the KURS Initiative DEUTA WERKE is offering presentations in schools, supervision of projects in the areas of physics, mechanics, computer science, electrics or electronics as well as evaluation of student projects. On top of this, during a two-week work placement the teenagers get an insight into life in a high tech manufacturing company.

KURS is a community inititive of Cologne District Council, the Aachen, Bonn/Rhein-Sieg and Cologne Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and the Cologne Chamber of Trades with the objective of bringing schools and the work place closer together, of making learning a more hands-on experience and of supporting students in the transition from school to career. KURS offices, which are located in the eleven education authorities in Cologne District Council, support interested schools and companies in the setting up and long-term development of specially designed learning partnerships.
