DEUTA eddy-current axial and angle-drive instruments are used for measuring shaft revolutions and speeds. By this means, the machine’s power output can be gauged and if necessary increased.
The different variants (axial instrument or with angle connector) and sizes make DEUTA eddy-current tachometers versatile in use.
The drive shaft’s rotation gives rise to eddy currents between magnet and back iron; these move an aluminium drum with pointer in the direction of rotation. A helical spring creates reaction torque and co-determines the position of the pointer, which corresponds to the input speed. Zero point and pointer deflection are dependent on the drive shaft’s direction of rotation.
