Deuta Radar Sensors and Multi-Functional Displays on the ETCS Jüterbog - Halle/Leipzig route

On 21.11.2005 the Federal Railway Authority granted permission for the commercial use of ETCS on the route between Jüterbog and Halle/Leipzig. Following a successful safety test, ETCS has been used for passenger travel for the first time since 5 December 2005.

This is also a further great success for Deuta-Werke in the ETCS sector: After having already implemented multi-functional displays on the ETCS route between Vienna and Budapest, Deuta is underlining its position as a supplier for ETCS projects on the new route with DRS 05 doppler radar sensors and MFD 23 tfl multi-functional displays.

As components of the ETCS system, Deuta's driver machine interfaces permit interoperable train traffic in compliance with universal safety standards. ETCS supports locomotive drivers, raises daily train operation capacities, lowers energy consumption rates and increases passenger safety. With its patented antenna configuration/evaluation system the robust DRS 05 Microwave Sensor lends itself to non-contacting measurement of speed, distance, direction of travel and acceleration. Speeds of 0.2 up to 600 km/h can be measured. The attachment point for the DRS 05 is underneath the vehicle body. A special feature of the DRS 05 is the dual-channel system for lessening the calibration shift effect associated with the ground’s varying reflection characteristics.

The next reported success will not be long in the offing: Deuta products are already being used on the ETCS test routes in Bulgaria, Italy, Korea, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain.
