Pole position: The Multi-Functional-Terminal MFT 2
EBuLa display approved according to the German Railway Corporation's V1.5 specification
The Multi-Functional-Terminal MFT 2 developed by Deuta-Werke is the EBuLa display approved by Deutsche Bahn AG in compliance with the current V 1.5 specification. MFT2’s main application is under the operating system WIN XP TM. The substantially improved performance over the previous on-board unit assures the simultaneous running of additional applications such as CIR-ELKE or diagnosis.
The MFT2 is the installation-compatible successor to the standard EBuLa on-board unit designated DEUTA C820 and developed by DEUTA-WERKE / GERCOM. The electronics are based on railway-compatible components, functions being monitored by an environment controller which is furnished with temperature management and watchdog modules and which automatically adapts the display's background lighting to ambient light conditions.
Secure investment and assured future compatibility
Interchangeable according to the STX standard, the PC module allows the processor to be upgraded at low cost. The integrated PC104 interface offers future compatibility - the quick-charging accumulator block whose voltage and temperature are monitored by the environment controller ensures uninterrupted emergency operation for 30 minutes.
Ease of operation
The lockable front flap familiar as a standard feature on previous EBuLa on-board units has also been incorporated into the new design. On the MFT2, too, this flap permits easy and quick interchange of the CD-ROM and accumulator block, withdrawal of the fault storage unit, and replacement of the hard-disk without the need for removing the MFT2 from the driver's cab. An added benefit of the new design: In contrast to the C820 on-board unit, the MFT2 also possesses an Ethernet and a USB interface, both interfaces now having established themselves in rail vehicle applications.
Operation and Maintenance Concept
In comparison to the first-generation of on-board units, the diagnoses relevant to the life of rechargeable batteries, fan and display have been visibly improved thanks to the use of the environment controller.
The planning of maintenance intervals can be optimized by reading out the operating hours and operating statuses of individual modules from a service CD. Screen displays and keyboard operations are saved on a regular basis in a separate memory card and can be viewed whenever required.
EBuLa's standard operating system is Windows XPeTM. Other operating systems such as Linux, QNXTM and further WindowsTM versions can be used for applications outside EBuLa.
The MFT2 meets the following standards: EN 50155 - V. 2001, EN 50121-3-2, EN 61000-6-4, EN 61000-6-2, LES-DB.
